Maps may be brought in person Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
*Maps/Plats must go by the tax office before we record*
Requirements For Recording Maps (Plats)
- The size requirement for recording a plat in Bladen County is 18 x 24 inches. Freestanding plats must have at least a 1½ inch border on the left side and at least a ½ inch border on the other three sides.
- A plat presented for recording shall be a reproducible plat, on film or mylar.
- Payment of recording fees ($21.00) if using a credit/debit card there will be a service fee
- G.S. 47-30.2 requires counties to designate review officers to review plats for compliance with all statutory requirements before the plats are registered. The Review Officer must affix his or her certification to the map.
Any map or plat attached to an instrument & presented for registration must adhere to the following:
- No larger than 8 ½ by 14 inches.
- Must contain the language: “This map may not be a certified survey and has not been reviewed by a local government agency for compliance with any applicable land development regulations and has not been reviewed for compliance with recording requirements for plats” (and said plat shall not be subject to REVIEW by the County Review officer), or...
- If above language is not provided, the plat must include the original signature and seal of a registered land surveyor or be a certified copy of a plat with such a signature and seal. In addition, it shall also be subject to REVIEW by the County Review Officer.
- In all cases above, the attached plat is recorded as part of the instrument to which it's attached and not in the plat files or books.
