BARTS

The Community Transportation Program is designed to strengthen and support the coordination of multiple transportation services currently operating within Bladen County. This program plays a vital role in streamlining local transit efforts by integrating various public and human service transportation resources into a unified system that meets the diverse mobility needs of the community.

Through this program, residents across the county—Open to the public- Anyone can ride—are provided with reliable, accessible, and affordable transportation options. These services are available for a wide range of needs, including medical appointments, education, employment, shopping, and other essential trips.

Transportation is facilitated using a fleet of specialized vehicles, including lift-equipped vans and conversion vans, ensuring accessibility for passengers with mobility challenges. All services are delivered by Bladen Area Rural Transportation System (BARTS), the county’s designated community transportation provider, which is committed to ensuring safe, courteous, and efficient transit throughout the service area.
