Core Responsibilities

• Fire Inspections & Code Enforcement: Ensuring that all commercial and public buildings meet state fire safety standards through regular inspections and compliance efforts.
• Fire & Arson Investigations: Determining the cause and origin of fire incidents and collaborating with law enforcement when criminal activity is suspected.
• Public Education & Outreach: Promoting fire safety awareness through school programs, smoke alarm campaigns, and community events.
• Emergency Planning & Mitigation: Working with emergency services to develop response plans and reduce risks during natural or man-made disasters.
• Agency Coordination: Supporting and partnering with local fire departments and EMS to maintain unified and effective response capabilities.

🔍 Fire Inspections & Code Compliance

We conduct regular inspections across schools, businesses, industrial facilities, and assembly spaces to uphold the North Carolina Fire Code. Our goal is to identify hazards before they become emergencies and assist property owners with correction plans.

🔥 Fire & Arson Investigations

When a fire occurs, our investigators respond promptly to examine the cause and origin. We collaborate with law enforcement agencies in cases involving suspected arson and take legal action when necessary.

📚 Community Education

Fire prevention starts with awareness. Our office conducts fire safety workshops, school visits, and public events to teach residents—young and old—how to stay safe and prepared. We also distribute smoke alarms and host open house events throughout the year.

🚨 Emergency Planning & Hazard Mitigation

From storm preparation to wildfire response, we support county-wide emergency readiness. Our team assists in drafting evacuation plans, identifying at-risk populations, and ensuring rapid, coordinated response with all emergency services.
