The goal of the Bladen County Maternal Health Program is to reduce infant mortality and morbidity and to improve the health of women during pregnancy. Any woman in Bladen County in need of maternal health care is eligible for this service.
This clinic provides:
- assessment and management of the pregnant woman during her prenatal experience
- WIC services to ensure proper nutrition
- social worker referral to determine Medicaid eligibility maternity care coordination by an experienced social worker
- maternal outreach services to assist with client needs during the pregnancy and for mother and child after delivery
- nutritional consultation by registered dietician
- prenatal supplements including folic acid and iron are provided
- clients with a high-risk condition are referred to a local specialist at Women’s Health Care Specialists
- after delivery our clients are followed at home with a post partum newborn assessment
- clients may also return to the Family Planning Clinic for a six week check up and birth control
- infants are given appointments in the Child Health clinic for well child checks and immunizations
