NOTICE TO BLADEN COUNTY TAXPAYERS

The Bladen County Tax Administration Office will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The 2025 property taxes on real estate and personal property are now delinquent. Interest and enforced collection on all delinquent taxes has begun as of Tuesday, January 6, 2026.




2026 LISTING NOTICE:

For 2026, ALL who own or control personal property, business property, made improvements to real property, or receive a HOMESTEAD EXCLUSION, must list all such property beginning: JANUARY 2, 2026, thru JANUARY 31, 2026 TO AVOID A 10% LATE LIST PENALTY AND/OR DISQUALIFICATION OF HOMESTEAD EXCLUSION.

If you listed personal property last year, you will automatically be mailed a new form at the owners’ address on record as of January 2026. Please review the information, make necessary additions/corrections, sign, and return listing form postmarked by U.S.P.S. no later than JANUARY 31, 2026 to Bladen County Tax Administration, PO Box 774, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.

ALL BUSINESS requests for an “Extension to File” their listing until April 15, 2026, must be received or postmarked by U.S.P.S. by January 31, 2026, per NC General Statute.




 

Beginning in the 2025 tax year, Bladen County collects for the Town of East Arcadia, the Town of Bladenboro, and the Town of White Lake.




Revaluation for Bladen County is effective for the 2026 tax year.

 


 



When the County forecloses on a property and it is not sold at auction, it becomes the property of the County and remains available for sale.

Recording a deed in Bladen County?

In order to be recorded, a certification form must be completed or the Register of Deeds will accept without certification form a deed submitted under the supervision of a closing attorney, and containing this statement on the deed: “This instrument prepared by: ______________, a licensed North Carolina attorney. Delinquent taxes, if any, to be paid by the closing attorney to the county tax collector upon disbursement of closing proceeds.”

NEW APPLICATIONS FOR ELDERLY, DISABLED, OR DISABLED VETERANS PROPERTY TAX RELIEF MUST BE FILED BY JUNE 1ST OF EACH YEAR.

NEW APPLICATIONS FOR ALL OTHER EXEMPTIONS AND DEFERMENTS, SUCH AS RELIGIOUS, CHARITABLE, AND PRESENT USE VALUATION MUST BE FILED BY JANUARY 31ST OF EACH YEAR.
